2020 MAX Award for Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Original Score
All to ignite the sheer joy of play
PLAY throws you straight into joy! Freedom, delight and the instinct to play are at its heart, as five dancers in quirky costumes, wielding curious objects awaken the inner child in all of us.
From an amusing version of Swan Lake with swan-shaped floaties to a pillow fight between larger-than-human-sized pillows, from criss-crossing gigantic cat's cradles to a tap dance by a mischievous troupe of stuffed dogs, everyday games and toys are reinvented through dance to ensure an endless stream of dazzling surprises.
Spanish company Aracaladanza is a regular in UK's Sadler's Wells family programming and renowned for their lyrical and imaginative works. Its production, PLAY, swept Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Original Score, and was named a finalist for Best Family Show at the 2020 MAX Awards. Intended for nothing but sheer joy, PLAY is one long party wreathed in smiles, inviting all fun-loving children-at-heart to join the celebration.
