Know Your Piano Concertos

The piano – one of the most iconic, versatile and popular classical instruments of all time – exudes a timeless allure which has attracted a wealth of repertoire written for it by generations of master composers. It is also one of the most exciting protagonists you will find on the concerto platform, as its harmonic possibilities and sheer power make it a more-than-worthy opponent of a whole symphony orchestra. In this concert, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Music Director Emeritus Yip Wing-sie will be joined by Hong Kong’s very own Chopin Competition prizewinner Colleen Lee, who will perform Chopin's exquisite Piano Concerto No 1 and share with the audience her insights into piano-playing. The young winners of “Auditions On Stage – Piano” in 2025 – Lin Jia-hong Ericsson and Lo Sum-yau – will play the well-loved piano concertos of Grieg and Mozart, putting a pianist’s artistic journey on full display.
