Acrobatic Drama Acrobatic Spectacle of Ancient Tang
Programme
Experience the height of the Tang dynasty! From ritual music, Han dynasty folk songs, to music and dance of the Western Regions, Acrobatic Spectacle of Ancient Tang brings together highlights from different ethnic cultures. It takes you on a journey to more than a thousand years ago to meet Princess Wanchun, the daughter of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, who was steeped in music and dance, studying with the master Xie Aman. At the birthday banquet of the Emperor attended by foreign ambassadors, you will be treated to an array of acrobatic spectacles, such as flag spinning, plate spinning, bowls kicking on unicycles, cycling on umbrella and so on. Princess Wanchun married Yang Fei, an official from the Imperial Diplomatic Bureau, with whom she exchanged views on art. She founded a "children’s acrobatic class” to teach them the various Chinese acrobatic skills. This performance will bring a spellbinding acrobatic spectacle to the Hong Kong audience.
