Brocante Sonore: The Mechanicians
Zic Zazou (France)

Herald Angel Award winner and Total Theatre Awards nominee, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2009

"An enterprise full of freshness, joy and virtuosity... an example in the world of music for laughs" – Le Figaro

Set in an untidy factory full of scrap iron, pipes, toolboxes and bricks, a team of blue-collar "workers" gear up to switch on their machines and start the day. Unexpectedly, the banging and clattering of grinders, drills and hammers develop into melodious pieces. Finding beauty amidst the chaos, the workers decide to show off their know-how further by using the ordinary objects around them to create memorable music. The unorthodox aural feast that results will hold you spellbound.

French collective Zic Zazou comprises professional musicians best known for their improvisational performances, playfulness and creativity. They have toured extensively over the years, stimulating a passion for the arts through their amazing blend of music, mechanics and comedy. Listen to this unconventional concert and learn how sounds from routine chores can be turned into wonderful music. It may inspire you to collect up some household objects to form your own ensemble!
