Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves

The Pikkari Theatre (Japan)
The Pikkari Theatre (Japan)

Set exotically in lands far away with colourful costumes and sets galore, the Pikkari Theatre from Japan comes to tell their story of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves.

Since everybody knows Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves... not so fast! Can you tell me the title of the book that 'Ali Baba' comes from? Or the name of the original storyteller? Or who is it that figures out that the huge barrels of oil the visitor has brought with him hide the armed thieves? No, it's not absolutely necessary that you know the answers. We just think you'll enjoy the show so much more if you just know a little more.

Funny and dramatic, spectacular and entertaining, in two acts and eighteen scenes, the Pikkari Theatre's inventive re-telling of Ali Baba's adventures has the cutest puppets and the sweetest songs anywhere in the universe. It will delight, fascinate and excite the audience with a story that remains as vibrant today as it was when the ancient Persians first enjoyed it.

Playwright / Director: Akira Adachi
